Emissions Management Tool (EMT): Trading Relationships & Platform Features

Below is a demo video including the allocations and additional functionalities of the EMT

Trading Relationships Tab

After submitting your survey, you will be automatically directed to the Trading Relationships tab. You can also access this tab at any time using the left-hand navigation menu. This is where you can allocate emissions to your customers and view emissions allocations that your suppliers have made to you.

Allocating Emissions to Customers

To allocate emissions to a customer as a supplier:

  1. Select the My Customers button in the top right of the screen.
  2. Choose a reporting period from the drop-down menu (this will only display periods from your previous reports).
  3. Select the facility you would like to allocate emissions from (this list includes all facilities submitted in your EMT survey).

Once a facility is selected, choose an allocation method for Scope 1 and Scope 2 separately. The available methods are:

  • Physical
  • Economic
  • Direct Measurement

If you used a method not listed above, select Other and provide a brief description. Please note that each facility must apply a consistent allocation method across all Scope 1 allocations, and again across all Scope 2 allocations, to ensure consistency and avoid double counting.

After selecting your allocation methods, select Save Changes and scroll down to the Allocate Percentage section. Here you will see the customer you are allocating to, the facility you are allocating from, and the current allocation percentages. To edit these, select the pencil icon on the far right, enter your adjusted percentages, and select Save Changes.

 

Viewing Supplier Allocations

To view emissions that your suppliers have allocated to you:

  1. Select the My Suppliers button in the top right of the screen.
  2. Toggle between reporting periods as needed.
  3. Scroll down to view each facility and the percentage of their emissions they have chosen to allocate to you.
  4. To view the allocation method a supplier used, select the eye icon to the right of the percentages.

Please note that the current version of the EMT displays percentages. The platform is being updated to reflect actual metric tons of CO2e, ensuring that no supplier's business relationship information is exposed.

 

Upcoming Features

The following updates are planned for the Trading Relationships tab:

  • Scope 3 allocations, which will flow into a customer's Scope 3 Category 1.
  • Preferential carbon-free electricity allocations, allowing users to preferentially allocate renewable energy attributes to specific customers.

 

Dashboard

Once allocations are complete, customers will see their updated Scope 3 figures reflected on their Dashboard. From the dashboard, users can also:

  • Monitor the response progress of their respondents
  • Export respondent responses
  • View and download analytics reports
  • Filter by facility and scope before downloading to generate specific reports

 

Documents Tab

The Documents tab allows users to upload supporting documents to include in their survey downloads. To upload a document:

  1. Select Attach to a Reporting Period.
  2. Choose whether the document should be attached at the company or facility level.
  3. Label the file and upload it.

Uploaded documents will appear in the Documents tab and will also be included in downloaded reports.

 

Reporting Tab

The Reporting tab is where all users can download respondent reports. To download:

  1. Filter by report type: Supplier Respondents, Supply Chain Respondents, or All Respondents.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the reports you wish to download.
  3. Select Export. All selected reports will be compiled into one download, which will appear in the Downloaded Reports section.

 

Platform Navigation

The icons in the top right corner of the platform provide quick access to key features:

  • Waffle icon — Switch between the Chemical Platform and the Emissions Management Tool.
  • Question mark icon — Access the Knowledge Base and contact information.
  • Profile icon — Change your password or log out.
